Join the Our Energy, Our Future Campaign
Baldwin EMC is teaming up with Alabama's electric cooperatives and the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) to promote Our Energy, Our Future, a congressional letter writing campaign geared toward getting the dialogue started about the future of energy policy.
To date, more than 1,480,000 e-mails have been sent to the nation's lawmakers on behalf of electric cooperative members.
By sending the e-mail, our members are not endorsing any particular viewpoint or political platform. Instead, they are simply letting the recipients know that they want a seat at the policy making table.
Unfortunately, we know that government can be part of the problem, as well as part of the solution. But the huge scope of energy reform will require government leadership, and the goals must be both bold and achievable.
That's why we are asking our elected officials the following questions:
Capacity
What is your plan to make sure we'll have the electricity we need in the future?
Technology
What are you doing to fully fund the research required to make emissions free electric plants an affordable reality?
Affordability
Balancing electricity needs and environmental goals will be difficult. How much is all this going to increase my electric bill and what will you do to keep it affordable?
